Roadside drainage is the controlling of water beyond the roadway, including water coming from the roadway surface and out subsurface drains. This includes water in ditches, culverts, and
coming from surrounding land. This water needs to be moved away from the road as soon as feasible. Reducing erosion and sedimentation helps control excess water flow.
